Todd A. Hill – Lobbyist of the Year
As a Republican lobbyist, Todd Hill faced an uphill battle this session in working with a DFL-controlled House, Senate, and governor’s office. But Hill—founder and president of the lobbying firm Hill Capitol Strategies—still managed to score several major victories. Among them was defeating the proposed minimum-wage increase on behalf of his client, the Minnesota Restaurant Association, which believed the hike could be harmful to local businesses and would lead to layoffs.
With more than two decades of experience in government affairs and politics, Hill is highly respected by Republicans and Democrats alike. Before starting Hill Capitol Strategies, he spent 12 years as senior and managing Cook Hill Girard Associates. Before entering the lobbying field, Hill worked on behalf of several Republican politicians, including Gov. Arne Carlson, U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, and his father, former Montana Congressman Rick Hill.
